With all the hoopla in the media, it has been difficult to get an accurate picture of Dr. Ben Carson and his positions on the most vital issues facing our nation. He has been maligned by Democrats, Republicans and the news media, yet his popularity continues to grow. Why? Because he simply says what he believes and ignores political correctness. Dr. Carson has lived his life based on logic and reason. He is honest and forthright in his speech. So I urge folks to find out what he really says and in what context.
Ben Carson has pledged to veto any new taxes or tax increases, and has called for a flat tax which does not exceed 15%. There will be rebates for low income families. He wants to simplify federal taxes and has stated that it should be possible to complete Federal tax forms in 15 minutes. He has committed his support to a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It is his position that the federal government assume fiscal responsibility and adopt policies that are conducive to economic growth. Carson would cut the federal budget 10% each year across the board until it is balanced. He would repeal ObamaCare and replace it with Health Savings Accounts that are owned and controlled by each individual citizen. Carson believes we have a duty to protect our environment, as well as a duty to develop our economic potential, while becoming energy independent in order to decrease revenues for radical terrorists.
Carson believes that as long as we reward people who break the laws, they will continue to break the laws. Therefore, he has suggested a national program in which guest-worker status could be granted to individuals who have special visas and would pay taxes. He believes kind and compassionate speech is meant to take into consideration the feelings and circumstances of others without compromising the truth and that such action is a much better alternative than political correctness. Carson urges compassion should mean providing a mechanism to escape poverty rather than maintaining people in an impoverished state.
Ben Carson has the unique experience of spending his career in the healthcare field while also serving on numerous corporate boards and launching a successful national nonprofit, The Carson Scholars Fund, which has dispersed six million dollars in college scholarships to deserving students. He has had the opportunity to work with and learn from both politically liberal and conservative business executives.
Finally, Carson says the Republicans and Democrats have been engaged in the gradual and consistent growth of the federal government and its unconstitutional claim on power. Meanwhile, the Republican Party often seems to stand for principle, only to cave in to pressure at the last minute, prompting Carson to seek a reformation of the Republican Party. Both Democrats and Republicans were responsible for excessive spending, incessant pork barrel projects, and intrusion into the private lives of citizens and, according to Carson, the Constitution was written primarily to protect the rights of the people and not the right of the government to rule the people.
