Dear Representative Stutzman,
Dear Senator Coats,
Dear Senator Donnelly,
It's time to compromise and work together for all the American people.
As your constituents, and as citizens fed up with Washington’s failure to make progress on any of America’s problems, we are urging you to support creating a national strategic agenda, a new governing process that both Democrats and Republicans can agree on.
Time and time again, we have heard our leaders say they want to "unite not divide" -- but no one has ever told us how they will do it. This is how you can do it: Come to the table with the opposition, agree on goals -- not just for a specific party but for the whole country -- and then move on to debate and policy making.
It's impossible to make progress without agreeing to goals first. What if the next president of the United States met with the opposition party before his or her inaugural address in January 2017 and could actually report the areas of mutual agreement that could be worked on? That would be groundbreaking!
Please consider building a national strategic agenda for America. Thank you,
Sincerely,
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bishop
